My Hobbies:

Painting

I have been drawing since I was around 5 years old, but I only really started painting seriously when I was in middle school. My mom entered me into an art studio where the teacher's main expertise was oil painting, so I jumped straight into it. Since then I continued doing oil paintings as my main medium while also dabbling in others like acrylics, watercolors, and gouache.

It served as a form of relaxation and self-expression. I learned a lot of techniques in terms of color theory and layering different hues to create interest; the way I painted was constantly changing and I was constantly growing as a painter.

While I no longer paint as much as I don't have access to my supplies in college, I try to continue through my digital art, using Procreate as my main medium currently.

Going to Concerts

Does this count as a hobby or just a way for me to lose money? Who knows.

I've been able to travel since I was kid because my parents placed a huge value in traveling the world. The concept of being well-travelled meant to my parents that my brother and I would be cultured and intellectual beings who will be able to have a nuanced perception of the world. While I don't know how well it worked, I do still enjoy travelling a lot.

To me, travelling means being able to bond with the people you're with. Whether it is your friends or your family, it brings the us together in a way I don't see happening in any other situation. It doesn't really matter if its a day trip or a week trip, taking the initiative and spending that amount of time with someone automatically brings you closer. I also love the fact that I can enjoy so many different cultures through different cities, landmarks, and historical places. I also think a large part of a culture is it food, and being able to eat the food straight from the soruce allows me to truly get the experience.
